Calhanoglu's Hamburg are in real danger of being relegated from the Bundesliga this season with the team sitting in 16th spot which would mean that they will face the 3rd placed side in the 2nd division in a direct battle to stay in the top flight or be promoted.
This means that they could be set for a clearance if they are indeed relegated which means their prized possession Calhanoglu could be let go in order to keep the team financially viable.
It is believed that Bayer Leverkusen are ready to make a move for the midfielder and they are so serious about wanting to take Calhanoglu, they are making him their number one target.
But Leverkusen is not the only team who are interested in Calhanoglu with the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City, AS Roma and Atletico Madrid also front runners to sign the player who has scored 10 goals in 29 league appearances.
