The 23 year-old will join the club for a fee reported to be around 7.5m euros and fits the mold for Hoffenheim's efforts to sign and integrate young players into their side.
Alexander Rosen, sporting director at Hoffenheim has this to say about their new purchase."Oliver Baumann will lend us even more stability with over 130 Bundesliga games worth of experience and his undisputed sporting quality.
Moreover, we're confident that, as a person, Oliver fits in with our young team. We're very very happy that he has opted for TSG and the path that we're on."
"After 14 years at SC Frieburg, I'm very keen to learn a new surrounding," said Baumann." Hoffenheim have really shaken up the league lately with their very attacking playing style.
I will try to provide a solid backing to help this playing style even more. I'm looking forward to the challenge", Baumann concluded.
The purchase of Baumann however, may pose a threat to the future of young Belgian keeper Koen Casteels, who has been the first choice keeper at Hoffenheim this season and may move on in the summer if he isn't with happy being the second choice.
