Roma, Chelsea Battle for Real Madrid Midfielder Khedira

Italian club AS Roma have joined the battle to sign Real Madrid and Germany international midfielder who is also a target for Jose Mourinho's Chelsea.

It has been rumoured that Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman who currently is out with a leg injury could be subject to a major bid during the summer and German source Bild and italian outlet Calciomercato are reporting Roma's interest in Khedira as a replacement.

It is believed that Strootman could join Manchester United to play under Louis Van Gaal who has been widely reported as the next coach of the club after David Moyes was sacked.

Khedira meanwhile, is returning from an injury which has kept him out most of the season but may not find too much room in the Spanish side with Xabi Alonso and Luka Modric in hot form plus youngsters Casemiro and Illaramendi ready to take the next step.

Fiorentina are also interested in the 27 year-old and could try to use good friend Mario Gomez to persuade the player into a move there as well.

Khedira has made the provisional 30 man squad for Germany in their quest for a World Cup with there still being hope that he can make the final 23 if fit.
