The team who currently sit 3rd in Italy's Serie A currently only have just one proper left-back at the club at this point in time with January purchase Faouzi Ghoulam having to play every game when available.
Now with the season nearly over, Benitez is looking to bring in some defensive additions and 21 year-old Juan Bernat is a target for the club according to sportmediaset.
Napoli president De Laurentiis tried to negotiate for the young star in January during the talks which saw Eduardo Vargas join the Los Che on loan for the remainder of the season, but this was knocked back by Valencia.
It is believed that Bernat is rejecting proposals from the Spanish club to renew his contract which ends in June 2015 which has prompted Napoli to come back for the player.
Valencia have a 20 million price tag on the player the fact that he could walk free at the end of next season would mean that Napoli could lower his fee.
Napoli meanwhile are also interested in signing Jeremy Mathieu as well who has a 9 million euro price tag and is an alternative to Thomas Vermaelen and also Martin Skrtel.
